And to that end, there's a certain level of... not dishonesty, exactly, but just a tiny bit of facade when Tamaki deals with Hikaru. He's on his best behavior, trying to be as positive and light-hearted as possible considering the circumstances, which means glossing over and even leaving out critical information, and it's not really for Hikaru's sake as much as it is Kaoru's.
His motivations are good! He wants to trust that Kaoru will take care of Hikaru, in his own way and at his own pace, and doesn't want to overstep any important twinsy boundaries. He's tryin' real hard to do right by Hitachiins! But as is par for the Decollage course, he is probably not succeeding.
So I guess the bottom line here is that Tamaki is feeling fantastically affectionate toward Hikaru (especially after dying, which upped his dere points obscenely toward just about everyone he already liked), and there's a ton of optimism and just... feeling refreshed, really, not having to deal with all the gross feelings that he does with Kaoru. But there's also a bit of self-imposed emotional distance there, which is almost certainly to collapse with either time or disaster, whichever comes first.

But because of the simplicity and honesty (HE THOUGHT YOU WERE BEING HONEST TO HIM GOSH :'( ) it's why he felt like he could sort of trust Tamaki to mean what he say no matter what. The inviting Hikaru over forever and NICE THREATS . . . you are so stupid :T I DON'T WANT TO LIKE YOU BUT I DO.
A thing Tamaki will take away from the event. A LESSON, A FRIENDSHIP, ETC. I am curious!

LESSON ONE: Mary is the portrait who's even going to try to take care of them. :')
LESSON TWO: Guys with sunglasses are jerks who hit women!!! >:[
TELL ME MORE OF THE COMPETITIVE DRIVE HIKARU'S MEMORY WILL SPARK :Da

How is Kaoru and Tamaki doing these days. . . Have they more or less patched up? FIGHT ON HOLD?
no subject
Anyway, THAT'S A GOOD QUESTION. I think you'd have to ask Dera, because I actually don't know, haha. Tamaki is totally over it at this point, for what little that matters (VERY LITTLE). But of course Kaoru is the one who makes the rules in their friendship, particularly since Tamaki's more-or-less forgotten that there were offenses were on both sides and started blaming himself completely like a winner. :D;;
But he really wants them to be patched up, and will go to whatever lengths it takes to ensure they stay that way.
Is Hikaru jealous of their maaagic powers?

Tamaki has so, so much love for team mom. He is incredibly grateful for the affection and support, and oh-so-eager to please.
Now, he doesn't always agree with Sion. I remember saying last time that Sion bothered him sometimes, because the things he would say and the things he would do were inconsistent. Tamaki's getting used to that now. He's starting to understand what Sion means when they talk about things like kindness, and why Sion talks like Tamaki is the only one who has it.
Or in other words, Tamaki is starting to pick up on the fact that Sion may be a little bit morally gray (though he of course has no remote idea of the extent). And he's really not sure what to think about that. Mostly it just makes him sad, because he believes wholeheartedly in Sion's loving nature and good intentions, and a little bit scared, too, because his own sense of morality is something that he's been struggling with in the games.
Also dangit Mom, take better care of yourself >:O!!!
NOW YOU LOVE ME

Sion loves Tamaki, of course. And like half of Shell, wishes to preserve his innocence and keep him away from terrible things. He admires Tamaki for what he is, especially his kindness, and believes he is a key actor in helping Shell not stray completely away from the path of semi-good.
Playing terrible games with Tamaki is always well... terrible. It makes Sion uncomfortable and sad on many levels: Tamaki is too nice to be there, the rest of the team - including Sion himself - tends to alienate him in order to make rougher decisions, not to mention that being a terrible person in front of Tamaki is damn disheartening. So he compensates for that by helping Tamaki feel useful afterwards, healing people and all.
But the bottom line is: Sion loves and admires Tamaki for his good nature. He loves talking to him, having him around and laughing at his silliness. He would, unfortunately, stab kittens for him. :'D

Like I was saying above, Hikaru is a pretty big improving factor, and I imagine that probably goes both ways, having something to focus on besides making each other crazy. And everybody dying. Nothing to make one appreciate what's really important like being impaled on spikes. And the zombie thing... though let's... wait until that's done... s-sob...
He's also trying to be more serious with Kaoru, and to actually talk out their ideological differences instead of fighting over them. And he wants to sit down and just Talk To Him so they can have an actual plan when going into bad things, only bad things keep happening and he doesn't have the chance.
But in general he is just overflowing with affection and... what's the word I need here... obligation, maybe? He's shifted from MAKE KAORU LIKE ME to MAKE KAORU HAPPY, which has turned out to be a route he feels more comfortable in and better about.

What does Cleo think of Tamaki's sword training? Or Tamaki in general.

How about Tamaki on Cleo in general?

that is honestly the first thing I thought of and now I can't stop thinking about it

He swapped out some of his clothes with Sion, but he hates wearing the same thing every single day, so he switches it up with the dresses. He doesn't actually mind them except that other people tease him. IF I WERE A GOOD PLAYER I'D REMEMBER TO PAY ATTENTION AND MAKE NOTE OF WHICH... but nope. Too much effort.

DRAGON WHY DON'T YOU RUN NICE GAMES >(
no subject
Dragon lives in a sort of generic medieval fantasy world where it does whatever it likes. It's bigger than just the cave that we've seen (and I would like to eventually run a game or two that gets out there and utilizes that, but it just hasn't come up so far). But it doesn't really matter, because in its own portrait, Dragon can do whatever it likes without any real impediment. So it's comfortable in its spot as the apex predator, but it's also bored basically all the time.
So Dragon is extremely eager for entertainment, and it loves drama. Now, you'd think it could run silly games where people make up stories or put on plays, but that hasn't worked out well for it in the past. Dragon has a lot of experience kidnapping humans and trying to make them entertain him, and they always either a) put on poor performances and he has to eat them or b) use their performance as a guise to distract him and escape. This is a way where it can have all the excitement it wants but still be completely in control.
Also, Dragon really likes eating people. Nothin' to be done for it. :d
Incidentally, Dragon doesn't have any particular dislike toward the characters on the whole (though it does hold grudges against a couple of individuals in particular). It doesn't think much of them at all. It's a little bit like a child that plays with its animal crackers even as it's biting off their limbs.
What are some of Apple's thoughts on that string-cutting game?
no subject
Despite the face that she was SUPER ADAMANT to Ginger that other teams wouldn't cut their strings, with only 3 strings left it's kind of like WELL AT LEAST A FEW PEOPLE DID IT. But she doesn't...care \o/ And she focuses more on "oh there is a person there that is sad/injured/reviving I should help that person!!" so she just shoved every feeling aside in order to focus on that. And is continuing to focus on that. She is technically not thinking about it '-'b
How is...Tamaki dealing with the string-cutting game AND the exciting zombie apocalypse from Cinderella's portrait?

DO U LIKE DRAGON, MARY?
no subject
other than that she doesn't care too much. dragon runs games and doesn't try and break rules (that she knows of) and is a dragon. she accepts its dragon-nature and existence and isn't particularly bothered or offended by it doing dragon things.
:D what do you think of plot fragments so farrr

And I'm also enjoying the implications of the effects that all the characters are having on the gallery. Which I guess is also built into the very premise, but it's cool to see it in an actual plot capacity. I also hope it doesn't mess you up with pacing, but it seems pretty awesome so far.
